Student and faculty work travel to Prescott’s Gallery 214, April 11-24
Yavapai College artists who captured their visions of a more tranquil society for the Second Annual Peace Summit will receive a downtown encore this month when paintings and mixed media pieces from the College event premiere at Gallery 214, located at 214 N. Cortez Street, in Prescott, Saturday, Apr. 11 to Friday, Apr. 24.
Thirty-two pieces in oil, acrylics, collage, and fiber art – as well as sculptures in metal and sand – will be on display. The pieces were a critical component of Yavapai College’s Second Annual Peace Summit, which challenged local artists to share their interpretations of a more tranquil and civil world. Works will include “Peace on Earth,” the Jacke Velenly painting that won the People’s Choice award at the event.
Gallery 214 is located in Prescott’s NoCo District, between Sheldon Street and the Raven Café. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. weekdays, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. weekends. Admission is free. The show runs until April 24, with a closing reception that coincides with 4th Friday Art Walk.
